With the widespread closure of schools and higher education institutions due to COVID-19, the uptake of digital learning has become crucial for students and professionals to continue their education. E-learning platforms provide the opportunity for skill development and knowledge gain from anywhere, anytime, and any place. However, with the variety of e-learning platforms available, it can be challenging to select the most suitable one. This paper aims to present a comprehensive review of the MERN stack for e-learning applications. The paper begins by providing a brief introduction to the MERN stack and its key components. It then explores the background and context of e-learning and the challenges that e-learning platforms face in terms of scalability, security, and integration with third-party tools. The main objectives of the survey paper are to identify the potential benefits of the MERN stack for e-learning applications and to assess its suitability for meeting the unique needs of the e-learning industry.
