Due to CO2 gas creation from the burning of fossil fuels, transportation is the second-largest contributor to greenhouse gas emissions. Electric vehicles (EVs) are seen to be a viable solution to this problem. Because electric cars utilize an electric motor as a propeller instead of an internal combustion engine, they can cut CO2 emissions. EVs, when combined with renewable energy sources, have the potential to be zero-emission vehicles. This paper provides an overview of the many types of electric drivetrains, covering their design as well as the advantages and disadvantages of each type. The goal is to describe the most current advancements in electric vehicle technology, which is constantly evolving. Furthermore, batteries as the primary energy storage are compared in terms of energy density and efficiency, specific energy and power, cost, and application.
