The rapid growth of e-commerce has significantly increased the demand for faster order fulfilment, efficient warehouse management, and cost-effective logistics operations. Modern e-commerce fulfilment centers face several operational challenges including rising labour costs, labour shortages, delayed order processing, inventory inaccuracies, warehouse congestion, and increasing customer expectations for same-day or next-day delivery services. Traditional warehouse systems that rely heavily on manual labour often struggle to maintain operational efficiency in high-volume fulfilment environments. To overcome these operational challenges, organizations are increasingly adopting warehouse automation technologies, particularly Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs). This study examines the cost-benefit analysis of adopting Autonomous Mobile Robots in e-commerce fulfilment centers and evaluates their impact on warehouse operational efficiency and overall performance. The study primarily focuses on analyzing how AMRs improve labour productivity, order fulfilment speed, inventory accuracy, throughput performance, operational flexibility, and cost optimization within warehouse operations. A descriptive and analytical research methodology was adopted for the study using primary data collection methods. Primary data was collected through structured questionnaire responses obtained from logistics professionals, warehouse employees, supply chain executives, and MBA students associated with supply chain and logistics management. The collected data was analyzed using percentage analysis, tables, pie charts, bar graphs, and comparative analysis techniques to evaluate respondent perceptions regarding the operational and financial impact of Autonomous Mobile Robots in warehouse operations. The findings of the study indicate that AMRs significantly improve warehouse operational efficiency by reducing manual material handling activities, minimizing worker travel distance, improving order processing speed, increasing throughput capacity, and enhancing inventory management accuracy. The results also reveal that AMRs reduce labour dependency and improve warehouse productivity through intelligent automation systems. Most respondents strongly agreed that robotic automation technologies represent the future of smart warehouses and Industry 4.0 logistics systems. The study further identified that high implementation cost, software integration complexity, and maintenance requirements are major challenges associated with AMR adoption. However, the findings suggest that the long-term operational and financial benefits of AMRs outweigh these implementation challenges. The novelty of this study lies in evaluating the cost-benefit impact of Autonomous Mobile Robots from both operational and managerial perspectives using primary research analysis. Unlike many previous studies that mainly focused on technical aspects of robotic systems, the present study examines respondent perception toward warehouse automation and operational performance improvement in e-commerce fulfilment centers. Therefore, the study concludes that Autonomous Mobile Robots represent a transformative technology in modern warehouse management and will continue to play an important role in future supply chain and logistics operations.

The rapid growth of e-commerce has transformed warehouse operations and increased the demand for faster, more efficient, and cost-effective fulfilment systems. Traditional warehouse systems face several operational challenges including labour shortages, rising labour costs, delayed order fulfilment, warehouse congestion, and inventory management inefficiencies. These operational issues have encouraged organizations to adopt advanced warehouse automation technologies to improve operational productivity and customer satisfaction. Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) have emerged as one of the most effective warehouse automation technologies capable of improving warehouse operational efficiency and fulfilment performance. The findings of this study indicate that AMRs significantly improve throughput performance, order fulfilment speed, inventory accuracy, labour productivity, and operational flexibility while reducing manual labour dependency and operational costs. The study also found that AMRs help organizations optimize warehouse workflow management and improve overall operational coordination in fulfilment centers. The primary research findings further confirmed that the majority of respondents positively support the implementation of AMRs in warehouse operations and believe that robotic automation technologies represent the future of smart warehouses and Industry 4.0 logistics systems. Respondents strongly agreed that AMRs improve warehouse efficiency and reduce repetitive manual tasks through intelligent automation systems. The novelty of this study lies in combining both operational and managerial perspectives to evaluate the cost-benefit impact of Autonomous Mobile Robots in e-commerce fulfilment centers. Unlike many previous studies that focused mainly on technical aspects of robotic systems, the present study examines warehouse efficiency, labour productivity, operational cost reduction, and respondent perception toward AMR adoption using both primary and secondary data analysis. Although the implementation of AMRs involves high initial investment costs, maintenance requirements, and software integration challenges, the long-term operational and financial benefits outweigh these limitations. Therefore, the study concludes that Autonomous Mobile Robots represent a transformative technology in warehouse management and will continue to play an important role in future supply chain and logistics operations.
