In recent years, due to the explosive growth in the number of digital technologies and online traveling sites, the tourism industry witnessed many changes as users can now access a large volume of relevant information. However, in most cases, it becomes quite problematic for users to choose an appropriate destination as they face information overload. The traditional recommendation techniques such as collaborative and content-based filtering suffer from the inability to personalize their results, analyze unstructured textual data, and adapt to changing needs of users. In order to solve these problems, this paper suggests developing a hybrid recommendation model that combines machine learning and deep learning approaches. In particular, the model will use TF-IDF and cosine similarity measures to facilitate the process of information retrieval. As for deep learning, BERT, Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), and LSTM networks will be used to detect semantic relationships, extract significant features, and simulate user behavior respectively. Moreover, the context awareness technique will be added to this model to take into account such real-life factors as budgets, seasons, and weather. Moreover, XAI methods are adopted to offer transparency and explainability to facilitate users’ understanding of the rationale behind the recommendations. It is shown that the designed framework outperforms existing methods in recommendation accuracy, user satisfaction, and adaptation capabilities. This research makes an effort towards the development of intelligent and user-centered travel recommendation systems that can offer context-aware recommendations on-the-go.
KEYWORDS
The present paper discusses a mixed approach to the im-plementation of deep learning-based tourism recommenda-tion systems that aims to overcome some of the challenges associated with conventional approaches to building recom-mendation engines. Through an effective combination of ma-chine learning algorithms along with some sophisticated deep learning-based models such as BERT, LSTM, and CNN, the system successfully enhances the accuracy and personalization of recommendations. Thanks to TF-IDF and cosine similarity, efficient processing is provided, and semantic understanding improves the effectiveness of recommendations as well. Thus, the present system successfully resolves the problem of data overload within tourism. In addition to this, the use of context-aware filtering based on various factors, including budget, weather, or seasons, significantly boosts the usefulness of recommendations pro-vided by the model. The utilization of Explainable Artificial Intelligence enables users to better understand the underlying reasoning of destination selection and thus fosters greater trust among travelers. It can be concluded that the developed model possesses high efficiency in terms of accuracy, speed, and convenience. Possible enhancements in future research include the imple-mentation of fully deep learning based systems, the inclusion of cloud technology, and the introduction of personalized recommendations via the study of user’s behavioral patterns.
