Student elections are an important part of educational institutions as they help in selecting student representatives democratically. However, traditional voting methods often involve manual verification and paper-based voting, which can lead to issues such as impersonation, duplicate voting, vote manipulation, and delays in result generation. To address these challenges, a Secure Student Election System Using Face Recognition has been developed. The proposed system utilizes face recognition technology to authenticate voters before allowing them to cast their votes. Each student is registered with facial data that is securely stored in the system database. During the election process, the system captures the student's face through a webcam and compares it with the stored facial records. Only authenticated students are permitted to vote, ensuring that each voter can participate only once. The system is implemented using Python and integrates technologies such as OpenCV, Face Recognition algorithms, image processing techniques, and database management systems. A user-friendly graphical interface is provided to simplify voter registration, authentication, and election management. By automating voter verification and vote counting, the system minimizes human intervention and enhances the overall efficiency of the election process. The proposed solution offers improved security, transparency, accuracy, and reliability compared to conventional voting methods. It demonstrates the practical application of artificial intelligence and biometric authentication in creating a secure and efficient electronic voting environment for educational institutions.
KEYWORDS
The Secure Student Election System Using Face Recognition was successfully developed to provide a secure, efficient, and transparent platform for conducting student elections. The system integrates biometric authentication with electronic voting technology, ensuring that only authorized voters can participate in the election process. By using face recognition for voter verification, the system effectively reduces the risks associated with impersonation, unauthorized access, and duplicate voting. The developed application automates important election activities such as voter registration, authentication, vote casting, vote storage, and result generation. This automation minimizes manual effort, reduces the possibility of human errors, and improves the overall efficiency of election management. The user-friendly interface enables both administrators and voters to interact with the system easily and perform their respective tasks without difficulty. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed system provides accurate voter identification, secure vote management, and reliable result generation. The database successfully maintains voter records, candidate information, and election results while ensuring data consistency and security. The implementation of face recognition technology enhances the credibility and integrity of the election process. Overall, the project successfully achieves its objective of creating a modern and secure voting platform for educational institutions. The system offers an effective alternative to traditional voting methods and demonstrates the practical application of Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision, and biometric authentication technologies in electronic election systems. Future enhancements may include cloud-based deployment, mobile voting support, advanced security mechanisms, and real-time election monitoring features to further improve system performance and accessibility.
