Abstract

Quality control and manufacturing processes play a pivotal role in the automobile component industry. The overall performance, safety, reliability, and service life of vehicles depend directly on the structural and dimensional integrity of their individual components. Therefore, establishing precise manufacturing methods and stringent quality inspection practices is critical to ensure compliance with strict engineering specifications. This paper presents a comprehensive study of manufacturing operations and quality control procedures observed during industrial training at Sai Tech Enterprises, Ahilyanagar, Maharashtra. The primary focus encompasses core manufacturing operations including Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining, drilling, tapping, press work, conventional lathe operations, and moulding. Furthermore, the paper analyzes the significance of process monitoring, dimensional accuracy, defect prevention mechanisms, and effective inter-departmental coordination between production and quality assurance divisions. Based on practical field observations and theoretical quality management frameworks, this study highlights key strategies for minimizing component rejections, optimizing material usage, and elevating product standards. Methodological recommendations tailored for implementation in automotive component manufacturing units are also proposed.

Full Article/Conclusion

Quality control is an indispensable domain in automotive component manufacturing that directly affects product reliability, vehicle safety, and manufacturing profitability. Successful component production relies on synchronized integration between robust machining methods, calibrated tooling, systematic inspection, and continuous process monitoring. This paper reviewed primary manufacturing processes—including CNC machining, drilling, tapping, press work, lathe turning, and moulding—alongside structured quality control checkpoints. Implementing systematic quality checks, operator training, tool condition monitoring, and root-cause defect analysis leads to measurable reductions in rework, material scrap, and production overheads. The industrial training completed at Sai Tech Enterprises, Ahilyanagar, established a solid practical foundation bridging academic mechanical engineering theory with professional manufacturing quality practices.
