The introduction of Unified Payments Interface (UPI) has revolutionized the Indian digital payment system and changed the paradigms of operations within banks and other financial institutions. Therefore, this research aims to analyze how the adoption of the new payment interface has influenced the profitability and growth of HDFC Bank, one of the largest private banks in India. To achieve the objective, secondary data was gathered from annual reports, financial statements, and relevant literature. The analysis focused on the implications of adopting UPI for the bank's profitability, efficiency, and competitive advantage. Secondary data was collected from the bank's annual report, financial statements, and scholarly articles. Specifically, profitability was measured using the net profit indicator. In addition, return on assets was used as an indicator of the efficiency of the bank's operations. Finally, growth was estimated using the volume of digital transactions. While the increase in the number of UPI-based transactions reduced the sources of the bank's income, the growth in transaction volume allowed for achieving more significant gains in terms of acquiring customers and operational efficiency.
