The drastic growth in the development of electronic devices and rapid rise in technology has significantly amplified the waste generation of electronic waste (e-waste) and poses a major environmental and health threat throughout the world. Harmful elements like lead, mercury, cadmium are released into the environment when e-waste is discarded incorrectly, leading to pollution of the soil, water, and air. This paper presents a Web-Based Intelligent E-Waste Classification and E-Commerce platform which employs YOLO (You Only Look Once) a deep learning algorithm for real time object detection and classification. The developed system exploits the integration of Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision and Web technologies to detect e-waste elements in the uploaded image with accuracy and precision in a quick time. The platform built using Flask has integrated real-time detection features, interactive user functions, administrative access to oversee the whole process and an e-commerce model for selling and recycling electronic items and their accessories. The developed YOLO-based model provides decent detection results and helps in effective e-waste recycling and resource utilization.
KEYWORDS
This chapter offers an extensive review and interpretation of the outcomes obtained from the design and experimentation of the proposed intelligent e-waste detection system. Whereas the previous chapter has concentrated on the reporting of experimental results, performance in dices and visualization outputs, this chapter provides further interpretation of the obtained findings by relating it to the problem statement, identified research gaps and literature review. This chapter explores the performance and feasibility of the system that has been proposed and built. The system’s performance of detecting and distinguishing of components of e-waste under various circumstances and the factors that account for it are then investigated thoroughly by carefully interpreting and structuring the findings. This helps in high lighting the strengths and explaining away any of the existing weaknesses and future feasibility of the system. The discussion aspect is extremely significant to this research as it bridges the technical results to that of wider e-waste management problems. Analysis of the resulting outcomes is made in conjunction with the already noted problems, primarily about the issue of waste segregation, absence of automatic systems, and inefficiency that exists in the current e-waste management systems. Thus, the presented intelligent system that is built using object detection and deep learning algorithms is critically compared as a solution to the problems that exist. In this comparison, attention is also given to how the developed system overcomes the difficulties faced by previous methods in being real-time and integrated. Another dimension in which the system’s performance has been studied is by both taking into account the qualitative as well as quantitative measurements for its operation. For instance, analysis not only of accuracy, precision, recall and mAP but also the visualization results, user-interface and response time. Thus, an overall assessment of the system has been made on basis of all the dimensions so as to avoid any narrow judgments. The study has also attempted to analyze how the developed system con tributes to an intelligent waste management by improving the operational speed of recycling plants. In doing so, it highlights its importance in assisting the human-driven work and thereby making it less arduous. Artificial Intelligence can surely have a role to play in transforming the conventional waste management systems. An elaboration has also been made in detailing the constraints in system performance and limitations with reference to: nature of datasets used, generalization capability of the model to diverse environment and datasets, etc. Detailed account on how these limitations need to be considered for future enhancements have been given as well. Last but not the least, future directions of the research have also been recommended on the basis of all the findings and the limitation. Modifications for an improved system have also been cited in context with use of enhanced learning models, integration of modern-day technologies and further ex tension in data for better training of the system. The discussion section thus acts as a connector that leads the research to the final outcome. It can also be stated as an evidence that proves the successful implementation of the research stated in the problem statement
