Abstract

Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder that affects memory, thinking ability, and cognitive functions. Early diagnosis plays a crucial role in slowing disease progression and improving patient care. Traditional diagnostic procedures are often expensive, time-consuming, and dependent on expert analysis of medical imaging data. To overcome these limitations, this project proposes an intelligent Alzheimer’s Disease Detection System using deep learning techniques and MRI brain image analysis. The proposed system utilizes the ResNet-50 convolutional neural network model for feature extraction and classification of Alzheimer’s disease stages. MRI brain images are preprocessed using normalization, resizing, and augmentation techniques to improve prediction accuracy and model robustness. The system classifies MRI images into four categories: Non-Demented, Very Mild Demented, Mild Demented, and Moderate Demented. A Flask-based web application is integrated to provide a user-friendly interface for uploading MRI scans and obtaining real-time predictions along with confidence scores, heatmap visualization, and risk assessment. The proposed model demonstrates reliable performance in detecting Alzheimer’s disease and supports early clinical diagnosis through automated analysis. Overall, the system is scalable, efficient, and suitable for healthcare applications involving neurological disease prediction and medical image analysis.

Full Article/Conclusion

The proposed Alzheimer’s Disease Detection System successfully integrates deep learning techniques and MRI brain image analysis for accurate disease prediction. The ResNet-50 CNN architecture effectively extracts complex spatial features from MRI scans and classifies different stages of Alzheimer’s disease with improved accuracy and efficiency The integration of confidence scores, heatmap visualization, and risk assessment enhances system interpretability and reliability. The Flask-based web application provides a simple and interactive platform for uploading MRI images and obtaining real-time predictions. The developed system can assist healthcare professionals in early diagnosis and support clinical decision-making processes.
