Crime and violence in places are big worries for police and security guards. Old surveillance systems rely on people watching all the time which's boring and can lead to mistakes. So we need a system that can find weapons like guns and knives in real time and alert the authorities right away. This research paper talks about a system that uses Artificial Intelligence to detect weapons using Deep Learning and the YOLOv8 framework. The system looks at live video feeds from cameras to spot weapons and send alerts before anything bad happens. The main goal is to make public places safer and help security respond faster. The system uses a type of computer learning called Convolutional Neural Networks along with YOLOv8 to spot and classify objects. The model was trained on a dataset of weapon images taken in different places and lighting conditions. We also used techniques like rotating, flipping and scaling images to make the system more accurate. The process of detecting weapons involves taking frames from the video preparing the images extracting features detecting objects and classifying them. When a weapon is detected the system automatically sends an alert to the authorities. The YOLOv8 model is very fast making it suitable for real-time use. We tested the system using metrics like Precision, Recall and F1-Score. The results show that the model is highly accurate and reliable in detecting weapons in conditions, including daytime and nighttime. The system can be used in places like shopping malls, train stations, airports and schools. This research shows how Artificial Intelligence and Computer Vision can improve security systems. The proposed system reduces the need for people to watch surveillance footage all the time and improves response, to threats. In the future this technology can be combined with drones, cloud-based monitoring and smart city infrastructure to make public places even safer.
KEYWORDS
This research paper is about a system that uses Artificial Intelligence to detect weapons on time. The system uses a model called YOLOv8 to look at video streams from CCTV cameras and find weapons like pistols, rifles and knives. The YOLOv8 model helps the system find weapons quickly and accurately in areas. When the system finds a weapon it sends an alert to security personnel. This helps them respond faster. Makes the whole system more effective. The system has advantages over traditional surveillance systems. These include: · Detecting weapons on time · Being very accurate · Helping security personnel respond faster · Automatically sending alerts · Not needing humans to watch the cameras all the time · Being good at monitoring surveillance video · Helping to keep people safe · Being easy to add to existing CCTV systems The Artificial Intelligence system was tested and it worked well. It could detect weapons in video streams. The system uses computer hardware to make it work faster. However the system is not perfect. It can have trouble detecting weapons in light. It also needs a lot of computer power to work. The system needs a dataset to learn from so it can get better at detecting weapons and YOLOv8 model. In the future the Artificial Intelligence system can be improved. It can use technologies like imaging cameras. The system can also be used in cities to help with security and detect weapons. Overall the research shows that using Artificial Intelligence and YOLOv8 model to detect weapons can make a difference in keeping people safe. The system is a solution, for making security systems.
