The rapid growth of digital data has increased the need for intelligent and user-friendly file management systems. Traditional file managers mainly depend on manual keyboard and mouse operations, which can be time-consuming and less accessible for users with physical disabilities or limited technical knowledge. This research survey focuses on AI-powered voice control smart file manager systems developed using the Python programming language. The study examines the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Speech Recognition, Natural Language Processing (NLP), and automation technologies to create smart file management solutions that can perform operations through voice commands. The survey explores various techniques, tools, and frameworks used in developing voice- controlled file managers, including Python libraries such as SpeechRecognition, Pyttsx3, OS, Shutil, Tkinter, and machine learning models for command processing. The research also analyzes the working principles of speech-to-text conversion, command interpretation, file handling automation, and user interaction mechanisms. Different existing systems and research contributions are compared based on accuracy, usability, security, response time, and accessibility features. Furthermore, this study highlights the advantages of AI-powered file management systems, such as hands-free operation, improved productivity, enhanced accessibility, and smart automation. At the same time, it discusses several challenges, including voice recognition errors, background noise issues, privacy concerns, and system limitations. The survey concludes that AI-based voice- controlled smart file manager systems have significant potential in modern computing environments and can greatly improve human-computer interaction. Future advancements in AI, deep learning, and natural language understanding are expected to make these systems more accurate, secure, and efficient for real-world applications.
KEYWORDS
This survey reviewed several voice-controlled file management systems, focusing on Python- based implementations. Current research demonstrates effective automation and user-friendly design but highlights limitations in noise handling, language diversity, and command flexibility. Future work should emphasize intelligent, context-aware systems with improved robustness and accessibility. Voice-based file management continues to evolve as a promising direction for smart computing and human–computer interaction.
