â This Cryptography is central to the protection of digital communication privacy and security. This paper provides an exhaustive description of symmetric and asymmetric cryptographic methods, noting their basic principles, major algorithms, performance aspects, and uses. Symmetric cryptography, being fast and efficient, relies on a single key for encryption and decryption, whereas asymmetric cryptography uses a pair of private and public keys to support secure key exchange and authentication. Following comparative analysis, the strengths and weaknesses of the two methods on issues of security, computational expense, and scalability are discussed within this research.
