â In light of the increasing demand for energy and its efficient utilization, the need has arisen to develop energy management systems. This project seeks to propose an Arduino based Smart Energy Monitoring and Control System aimed at improving the measurement process, prepayment and controlling the electrical loads. It uses an Arduino microcontroller to enable connectivity among different devices, whereby sensors measure the voltages and current and thus the consumed energy, which is done by computing the number of pulses representing one unit of energy. The method used here is prepayment in which the user pays his/her account balance and then switches off loads when it reaches zero. Through the Bluetooth module, the consumer can turn the loads on or off remotely and top-up the account via a mobile application. Moreover, ESP8266, which works as a NodeMCU, will upload all the collected information to the thing speak website. On the other hand, the GSM module will provide the alerts of low balances.
