This review explores how blockchain technology has evolved far beyond its initial use in cryptocurrencies and cryptographic systems. While blockchain is often associated with secure digital transactions, its decentralized and transparent nature has opened opportunities across multiple domains such as healthcare, supply chain management, voting systems, and digital identity. This paper examines key applications, benefits, and challenges of blockchain in non-cryptographic contexts. It also compares traditional centralized systems with blockchain-based solutions to highlight improvements in transparency, trust, and efficiency. The study concludes that blockchain has strong potential to transform modern digital ecosystems, although issues like scalability, regulatory concerns, and energy consumption still need attention.
KEYWORDS
This review highlights that blockchain is much more than just a cryptographic tool for cryptocurrencies. Its ability to provide transparency, security, and decentralization makes it highly valuable across multiple industries. From healthcare to supply chains and digital identity systems, blockchain has demonstrated its potential to improve efficiency and trust. However, challenges such as scalability and regulatory issues must be addressed before it can achieve full-scale adoption. In conclusion, blockchain represents a transformative technology that is reshaping how data and transactions are managed in modern digital systems.
