Pneumonia is a serious respiratory disease that affects millions of people worldwide and can lead to severe complications if not diagnosed early. Traditional diagnosis of pneumonia through chest X-ray interpretation requires experienced radiologists and may be time-consuming. Recent advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Deep Learning have enabled automated medical image analysis with high accuracy. This research presents a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN)-based approach for detecting pneumonia from chest X-ray images. The proposed model automatically extracts significant image features and classifies chest radiographs as either normal or pneumonia infected. The CNN model was trained and evaluated using a publicly available chest X-ray dataset. Experimental results demonstrate an accuracy of over 95%, indicating that CNN-based systems can serve as reliable decision-support tools for healthcare professionals. The proposed approach can assist in early diagnosis, reduce workload on radiologists, and improve healthcare accessibility in resource-limited regions.
KEYWORDS
The study confirms that deep learning-based medical image analysis can significantly enhance disease detection and support healthcare professionals in making accurate clinical decisions. The proposed system has the potential to serve as a reliable diagnostic aid, particularly in hospitals and healthcare centers with limited access to expert radiologists. Furthermore, it can help reduce diagnostic errors, improve patient outcomes, and enable early treatment of pneumonia. In conclusion, the CNN-based pneumonia detection system proves to be an efficient, accurate, and practical solution for automated chest X-ray analysis. With further improvements in dataset size, model architecture, and real-time deployment, the system can become an important tool in modern healthcare and computer-aided diagnosis applications.
