Growing volumes of digital data have pushed institutions and enterprises to seek more dependable, secure, and scalable approaches to information handling. Conventional monolithic systems frequently fall short — struggling with redundant data, fragile access controls, and poor adaptability. We present the design and implementation of a Serverless Microservices Web Application that brings together centralized user management, protected document storage, role-based access control, and real-time activity monitoring under one platform. Our stack combines React.js for the user interface, FastAPI for backend processing, SQLite/PostgreSQL for persistence, and JSON Web Token (JWT) for authentication. Through the application, users can upload, retrieve, and manage documents, while administrators maintain oversight through a unified dashboard. Evaluation results show measurable gains in security, operational efficiency, and system accessibility, confirming the platform’s suitability for educational institutions, businesses, and enterprise environments that require robust digital information governance.
KEYWORDS
We set out to build a secure, scalable alternative to the fragmented manual systems many organizations still rely on for digital information management. The resulting Serverless Microservices Web Application brings user management, document storage, JWT-authenticated access control, and administrative monitoring together in a single, maintainable system backed by React.js, FastAPI, and SQLite/PostgreSQL. Testing confirmed that each module — authentication, document handling, user management, activity monitoring, and API services — operates reliably under multi-user conditions. The microservices structure gives the system flexibility: services can be modified or replaced independently, reducing the cost and risk of future changes. Real-time dashboard access and structured activity logs directly support the operational transparency that administrators need. For institutions and enterprises seeking a dependable foundation for centralized data governance, this platform offers a practical, deployable solution. Future work will focus on cloud deployment across AWS, Azure, and GCP; integration of machine learning for predictive analytics; multi-factor authentication for additional credential security; and a dedicated mobile client to extend access beyond the browser.
