BACKGROUND: Upanaha is one of the Swedana procedures that have been proven to be efficacious in treating various Vatavyadhi such as Sandhigata Vata with pain and stiffness as presenting symptoms. Due to the resemblance of signs and symptoms, Sandhigata Vata may be correlated to osteoarthritis.Though Upanaha is mentioned to be retained on the part affected for 12 hours. In clinical practice, we find a deficit in its application due to non-compliance of the patient. Moreover, Upanaha being a wet heat application, has the disadvantage of quick cooling due to evaporation and inability to retain heat.. Hence this study aims to design and fabricate an equipment to maintain uniform temperature and provide a convenient method of administration by using a modified technique and analyze its efficacy in Janu Sandhigata Vata (Osteo Arthritis). The heating system ensures consistent and controlled temperature regulation, allowing for the optimal release of active compounds from the herbal poultices. The supplied heat can be controlled using a monitoring system where the desired temperature can be set which is in the range of 25 °C to 65 °C. The equipment's fabrication involved the use of high-quality materials and components, ensuring its durability and reliability. The poultice is applied over the affected region of the patient and device is kept over the poultice.
KEYWORDS
Ø The results of analytical method and numerical method was satisfied. Ø The equipment made was successful in controlling the flow of heat and monitor the equipment Ø It was able to transfer the required amount of heat to the affected area. Ø The model should be tested on the patients and get their feedback and implement in future scope
