Skin diseases are a major global health concern, and delayed diagnosis of serious conditions such as skin cancer can lead to severe complications. This paper presents an intelligent deep learning–based framework for automated skin disease detection and cancer risk assessment using computer vision techniques. The proposed system employs advanced CNN models, including MobileNetV2, InceptionV3, and ResNet50, to accurately classify skin lesions as cancerous or non-cancerous and identify multiple non-cancerous diseases such as ringworm, cellulitis, chickenpox, impetigo, nail fungus, athlete’s foot, and shingles. Implemented as a Django-based web application, the system provides prediction results with confidence scores, severity analysis, and GradCAM visualizations for improved interpretability. Additional features such as real-time webcam detection and an AI-powered chatbot enhance user interaction by offering guidance on symptoms, causes, and preventive measures. The proposed solution aims to provide a fast, accessible, and reliable diagnostic support system, especially for regions with limited access to dermatological expertise.
KEYWORDS
The Skin Cancer Detection and Classification System using Machine Learning and Deep Learning provides an efficient and accurate solution for identifying skin diseases from medical images. By combining image preprocessing, segmentation, and deep learning models, the system improves diagnostic accuracy, reduces manual effort, and supports early disease detection. The user-friendly and AI-driven approach makes the system suitable for real-time healthcare and telemedicine applications, especially in areas with limited access to dermatologists.
