It primarily demonstrates the importance of combining modern software engineering practices with secure centralized architectures in the field of digital healthcare, specifically to eliminate paper-based record fragmentation and establish robust data protection controls. The biggest challenge in today's healthcare operations remains the heavy reliance on manual paper documentation—which creates severe administrative delays, physical storage bottlenecks, and high vulnerability to data loss—alongside the urgent need for secure, real-time access across hospital departments. While traditional clinical environments struggle with fragmented paper files, modern healthcare standards demand digitized, centralized workflows that guarantee both rapid data accessibility and strict confidentiality.
KEYWORDS
This paper presented the design and implementation of a secure, centralized digital healthcare system engineered to replace inefficient paper-based record-keeping with a unified Electronic Health Record (EHR) architecture. By consolidating patient histories, diagnostic reports, prescriptions, and administrative workflows into a single relational database indexed by a Unique Patient Identifier (UPI), the system eliminates physical document fragmentation and significantly accelerates clinical data retrieval speeds. Furthermore, data privacy and structural security are maintained through the integration of Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), multi-layer encryption (AES-256 and TLS/SSL), and automated audit logging. The proposed framework demonstrates that combining modern software engineering principles with robust security protocols reduces operational bottlenecks, minimizes human error, and provides a scalable foundation for modern digital healthcare infrastructure.
