This paper presents the design and development of a high-efficiency bi-directional buck-boost converter utilizing Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistors (IGBTs) for applications requiring seamless energy transfer between sources and loads. The proposed topology optimizes efficiency through advanced switching techniques and precise control algorithms, minimizing losses and improving performance in both buck and boost modes. A comprehensive analysis of the converter’s design, including circuit topology, modulation strategies, and thermal management, is provided. Simulation and experimental results validate the efficiency and effectiveness of the proposed design, demonstrating its suitability for renewable energy systems, electric vehicles, and energy storage applications.
