This paper shows Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI) is one of the most important technologies in modern electronics, enabling the integration of millions or billions of transistors on a single chip. The rapid growth of digital devices, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), and high-performance computing has significantly increased the demand for skilled VLSI engineers. This paper presents a comprehensive overview of how students and graduates can design a successful career in the VLSI domain. It discusses the fundamentals of VLSI technology, key skills required in the semiconductor industry, different career paths, and the roadmap for entering the VLSI field. The study also highlights the growing semiconductor ecosystem and the opportunities available for engineers in chip design, verification, and manufacturing. The paper aims to guide students and professionals who aspire to build a long-term career in the semiconductor industry.
KEYWORDS
VLSI technology plays a vital role in modern electronics and semiconductor development. As the demand for advanced computing systems and smart devices continues to grow, the need for skilled VLSI engineers is also increasing. Students who develop strong fundamentals in electronics, learn hardware description languages, and gain practical experience with design tools can successfully build a career in the VLSI industry. With continuous learning and industry exposure, engineers can contribute significantly to the development of next-generation semiconductor technologies.
