Ethernet is a type of communication protocol that connects computers within what’s called a “local area network” and a “wide area network ”, LAN and WAN connect various devices, such as laptops and printers, within homes, buildings, and even small neighbourhoods. Ethernet lies in the lower layers of the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model. It facilitates the operation of physical and data link layers. Ethernet describes a technology for cabled data networks that connect software and hardware with each other. Advanced microcontroller bus architecture (AMBA) protocol family provides metric-driven verification of protocol compliance, enabling comprehensive testing of interface intellectual property (IP) blocks and system-on-chip (SoC) designs. Software connections between software programmes and hardware devices are called device drivers. Device drivers are thought to be particularly difficult to build as part of a complicated operating system. Lowlevel programming languages like C are commonly used to create them. Developers of device drivers must have a thorough grasp of the hardware and software systems they are working with. The goal of this project is to design and construct a driver for an Ethernet IP that connects to the A2O core through the AMBA AXI4 bus interface. The GCC compiler will be used to generate the drivers. Drivers will be written in the C programming language.
