Considering the present global scenario, warehouses have various technologies to make logistics efficient. What they often lack is coordination. Even the best-equipped fulfillment centers miss delivery targets, make picking errors, and process returns slowly. Not because of poor infrastructure, but because internal teams, processes, and systems aren’t aligned. This paper investigates how warehouse coordination results in efficient order fulfillment in Indian e-commerce. A conceptual framework of the WC-FE Model is introduced based on four coordination dimensions (inter-team communication, inventory synchronization, technology integration, and process standardization) and the four fulfillment outcomes (order cycle time, accuracy, on-time delivery, and return processing) are tested. Four research hypotheses are formed and theoretically validated with evidence from 18 published studies, IBEF and Ministry of Commerce reports, and real-world examples from Amazon India, Flipkart, Myntra and Meesho. The results are clear: all four dimensions of coordination contribute positively to fulfillment efficiency, and technology integration and process standardization are the most significant drivers. The WC-FE Model is developed to serve two purposes: a testable framework for future researchers and a practical diagnostic tool for warehouse managers in India’s fast-growing logistics industry.
KEYWORDS
The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of warehouse coordination on order fulfillment efficiency in the Indian logistics context using a conceptual research approach supported by published literature, various thesis report based on topic and industry evidence. The WC-FE Model suggests that all four coordination dimensions - inter-team communication, inventory synchronization, technology integration, and process standardization – are positively related to order fulfillment efficiency. The strongest predictive factors are technology integration and process standardization, which is consistent with the theoretical reasoning developed in Chapter 4 and the documented industry evidence from Amazon India, Flipkart and Myntra. The model provides a structured and testable framework for future empirical research and a practical diagnostic tool for warehouse managers.
