A portable, compact telephone that uses cellular network technology under wireless communication to transmit and receive calls is called a cell phone or a mobile phone. The cell like structure derives the specific term – ‘cell phone’. There happens to be a mild confusion between the segregation of cell phones and mobile phones. It’s all predominant on the technology utilised, rather than the functionalities of the handset. As long as a phone transmits and receives signals between itself and the base station, it can be termed as a mobile. The rampant and the extensive usage of mobile phones in present day and age has consequently resulted in the construction of a plethora of mobile and cell phone towers around. These immense towers have electronic equipment and antennas that consistently receive and transmit radio frequency signals. The affects of this supposed sliver of the electromagnetic spectrum – ‘The radio wave section’ ranging from the wavelength is a matter and a subject of intensive research in the current times. Radiation exposure is apparently detrimental to one’s health and is suspected to be carcinogenic. This paper accentuates on a plethora of widespread research, surveys and studies conducted on faction of people in order to study the repercussions of radio waves. We also lay emphasis on the types of radiation, working of mobile phones, expected consequences and supposed risk factors etc.
