Sustainable practices are crucial since the building sector contributes considerably to global carbon emissions. This study examines opportunities and barriers in sustainable building using the Relative Importance Index (RII) method. Budgetary restrictions, complicated approval processes, and a lack of financial incentives are identified as the main obstacles. Improved indoor environmental quality, less environmental impact, and effective resource use are important potential. Sustainable building practices improve tenant comfort and health while increasing building value. It provides significant economic and environmental advantages despite current obstacles. In order to romote the adoption of sustainable construction techniques, the study emphasizes the necessity of regulatory support, technical improvements, and awareness campaigns.
KEYWORDS
The following are the conclusion of the research work as given below; 1. The most significant obstacle to the adoption of sustainable building is budget constraints, which are caused by project financial limitations. 2. Project execution is greatly delayed by complicated approval processes, which deters stakeholders from using sustainable practices . 3. Developers become less motivated when there are no financial incentives, which lowers the economic appeal of sustainable development. 4. The biggest potential is provided by the effective use of natural resources, which guarantees long-term sustainability and construction cost reductions. 5. Minimizing pollution and resource depletion is the main advantage of sustainable building, as evidenced by the reduction of environmental consequences. 6. The value of green buildings is increased by improved indoor environmental quality, which also improves tenant comfort and health.
