Fake news has emerged as a significant challenge in the digital era due to the rapid growth of online news platforms and social media networks. The widespread dissemination of misleading and fabricated information can influence public opinion, create social unrest, and undermine trust in credible information sources. Traditional fact-checking methods are often time-consuming and incapable of handling the enormous volume of content generated daily. To address this issue, this paper presents an intelligent Fake News Detection System based on Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT), a state-of-the-art deep learning model for Natural Language Processing (NLP). The proposed system preprocesses news articles through text cleaning, tokenization, and normalization before extracting contextual representations using BERT embeddings. The fine-tuned BERT model is trained to classify news content as real or fake by capturing complex semantic and linguistic relationships within the text. Experimental evaluation demonstrates that the proposed approach achieves high accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score compared with conventional machine learning techniques. The developed web-based platform enables users to verify the authenticity of news articles in real time, thereby reducing the spread of misinformation and promoting a more reliable digital information ecosystem. The results highlight the effectiveness of transformer-based architectures for automated fake news detection and their potential for large-scale deployment in modern information verification systems.
KEYWORDS
The proposed Fake News Detection System provides an effective and intelligent solution for identifying misleading and fabricated news content using Natural Language Processing (NLP) and the BERT deep learning model. The system successfully automates the process of news verification by analyzing the contextual and semantic features of textual data and classifying news articles as either real or fake. Through its web-based interface, users can easily submit news content and obtain prediction results in real time, making the verification process simple and accessible. The implementation of modules such as user authentication, news submission, text preprocessing, BERT-based classification, result visualization, and database management demonstrates the practical applicability of the proposed system. By leveraging the contextual understanding capabilities of BERT, the system achieves reliable prediction performance and helps reduce dependence on manual fact-checking methods, which are often time-consuming and inefficient for handling large volumes of digital content. In conclusion, the developed system contributes to combating the growing problem of misinformation by providing a scalable, accurate, and user-friendly fake news detection platform. The successful integration of artificial intelligence and deep learning techniques highlights the potential of automated fact-checking systems in promoting trustworthy information sharing and creating a more reliable digital information ecosystem.
