Abstract

Industrial training provides civil engineering students with direct exposure to construction practices and helps connect classroom concepts with field execution. This paper presents a field-based study derived from industrial training conducted at Bhairavnath Construction and Developers, Ahilyanagar, during June–August 2026. The study documents observations related to site layout, excavation and foundations, reinforcement, concreting, masonry, plastering, finishing, plumbing, electrical installations, material handling, equipment usage, quality checks and construction safety. The training also covered common construction materials, site equipment, digital tools such as AutoCAD and MS Project, and personal protective equipment. Particular attention was given to reinforcement checking against bar bending schedules, concrete placement and compaction, site supervision and safe working practices. The findings are descriptive and based on site observations, training records and guidance from site personnel; no independent laboratory experiment or statistical performance test was conducted. The study demonstrates how structured industrial exposure can strengthen practical understanding, technical awareness, safety consciousness, teamwork and professional discipline among diploma civil engineering students.

Full Article/Conclusion

This field-based study organized the documented industrial training experience at Bhairavnath Construction and Developers into an IEEE-style technical paper. The training provided practical exposure to site layout, excavation, foundations, reinforcement, concreting, masonry, plastering, finishing, plumbing, electrical work, material handling, equipment, quality-related practices and construction safety. The experience helped connect theoretical civil engineering concepts with actual site activities and improved understanding of supervision, teamwork and professional discipline. The documented experience also demonstrates the educational value of industrial training for diploma civil engineering students. Future training programs can further strengthen learning by maintaining structured daily observation sheets, recording measurable quality and productivity indicators, documenting safety observations and linking each field activity explicitly with the relevant curriculum outcomes.
