Flooding is a major natural disaster that affects millions of people living in low-lying and riverbank areas. Conventional houses in these regions are highly vulnerable to flood damage, leading to loss of property, displacement of residents, and economic hardship. A floating house is an innovative housing solution designed specifically for flood-prone areas. The concept involves constructing houses on buoyant foundations that allow the structure to float when water levels rise and settle back when the water recedes.
KEYWORDS
Key outcomes of the project include: · Adaptability to Floods: The house rises and falls with changing water levels, ensuring uninterrupted habitation. · Structural Stability: Proper weight distribution, lightweight materials, and guideposts maintain balance and prevent drifting. · Sustainability: Use of locally available and eco-friendly materials reduces environmental impact and construction costs. · Community Resilience: Floating houses enhance the safety, living conditions, and social stability of communities in flood-prone regions. · Feasibility and Scalability: Modular design allows replication for both individual homes and community infrastructure like schools or healthcare centers.
