Management of hospitals' resources, for instance, beds, ICUs, medical professionals, and operation theaters among others is still a major problem in modern-day healthcare delivery especially when there are spikes in demands and emergencies. Existing hospital management strategies rely mostly on reactive approaches whereby management is dependent on semi-automatic mechanisms that lack predictive abilities, thus leading to inefficiencies like under utilization, crowding, and increased patient waiting time. This paper puts forth a hospital resource optimization approach based on Big Data technologies where machine learning algorithms and data analytics are used to support proactive and intelligent decision-making. In this approach, heterogeneous data sources are collected from patients' admissions and discharges, emergencies, medical professionals' working schedule, and use of operation theaters among other types of information. These data sources are analyzed through the use of data handling software and predictive models to determine future demands such as bed capacity, ICU utilization, and surgical operations scheduling. The architecture involves four principal components: data acquisition, data storage and processing, predictive analysis, and visualization. ML is used for analyzing trends to provide precise forecasts, while an interactive dashboard can help monitor operations and visualize important information for hospital managers. In addition, the system enables optimized resource allocation, minimizes scheduling conflicts, and increases operational efficiency. The paper shows the revolutionary capabilities of Big Data analytics for building intelligent and scalable health care management systems, thus creating the foundation for future smart hospital infrastructure.
KEYWORDS
The study has developed an advanced system that optimizes the use of resources within hospitals via the application of machine learning and Big Data analysis techniques. In the current study, the proposed system can easily integrate and combine the available data about hospital operations, including admissions, intensive care unit management, personnel scheduling, and operation theater management. Through the use of various machine learning algorithms, the system can successfully make accurate predictions regarding future resource needs in terms of patient beds, ICU occupancy rate, and number of personnel required. The process of incorporating data pre-processing methods ensures the provision of high-quality and reliable data that makes predictions more accurate. The outcomes generated by the model clearly show its ability to identify the trends regarding patients and forecast peaks during which demand increases. The comparison between the system and manual method proves that the proposed system is more accurate and fast compared to conventional methods used at most facilities. Consequently, hospitals will be able to change their approaches to become proactive in decision making. Moreover, the system increases efficiency due to optimized resource allocation and balance of staff workloads, resulting in high-quality health care services and satisfied patients. The system is designed in such a way that it can be easily scaled to accommodate various conditions in hospitals and can be enhanced through innovative technologies in the future.
