Abstract

Now a days electricity consumption in homes is increasing very fast due to use of many electrical appliances. Because of this, it is important to monitor and predict the energy demand in advance so that wastage of power can be reduced. In this paper, we are presenting a household energy demand prediction system using Internet of Things (IoT) and Machine Learning. In this system, voltage and current sensors are connected with ESP32 microcontroller to measure real-time voltage, current and power values. The collected data is send to Firebase cloud database through WiFi. From Firebase, the data is fetched into a Python Flask application where it is processed and stored for analysis. After preprocessing the collected data, machine learning algorithm is applied to predict the future energy demand of the household. The model learns from historical energy usage pattern and gives prediction for upcoming time period. This helps users to understand their consumption behavior and plan the usage of electrical appliances properly. The proposed system is low cost, easy to implement and suitable for smart home applications. It can also help in reducing peak load demand and improving energy management. In future, more advanced deep learning methods can be used to increase prediction accuracy.

Full Article/Conclusion

In this paper, a smart household energy demand prediction system based on IoT and Machine Learning has been proposed and implemented. The system uses voltage and current sensors connected to ESP32 to measure real-time electrical parameters. The collected data is stored in Firebase cloud database and further processed using a Python Flask application. Different machine learning algorithms were applied to predict future energy demand based on historical consumption data. From the experimental results, it was observed that advanced models like LSTM provide better accuracy compared to traditional regression methods. The system achieved approximately 92–95% prediction accuracy, which shows that the proposed approach is effective for household energy forecasting. The developed framework is low-cost, scalable, and suitable for smart home applications. It helps users to monitor their energy usage and plan their electricity consumption more efficiently. By predicting future demand, the system can also help in reducing peak load and electricity wastage. Overall, the integration of IoT, cloud computing, and machine learning provides an intelligent solution for modern residential energy management.
