This paper proposes an Internet of Things (IoT)-based smart water management and distribution system integrated with Artificial Intelligence (AI) for efficient utilization of water resources in smart cities. Rapid urbanization and population growth have led to increased water demand, resulting in challenges such as water scarcity, leakage, and inefficient distribution. The proposed system utilizes sensors such as flow sensors, pressure sensors, and water level sensors to monitor water usage and pipeline conditions in real time. The collected data is transmitted to a centralized system where AI algorithms analyze usage patterns, predict demand, and detect anomalies such as leakages. Based on this analysis, automated control mechanisms are implemented to regulate water distribution and minimize wastage. The system improves operational efficiency, ensures fair water distribution, and supports sustainable water resource management. Furthermore, the proposed solution is cost-effective, scalable, and suitable for real-time implementation in smart city environments.
KEYWORDS
The Smart Water Management System successfully demonstrates improved efficiency in water distribution by integrating IoT-enabled sensors and AI-based decision-making. The system effectively monitors pressure, flow, and water levels, providing real-time data for optimized control. Percentage-based analysis shows a clear improvement in response time and reduced water wastage, highlighting the practical benefits of implementing this technology. Overall, the project emphasizes the significance of automating water management processes in urban settings. The system not only enhances operational efficiency but also contributes to sustainable water usage. By analyzing the collected data, authorities can make informed decisions, ensuring timely intervention and long-term resource conservation. Future enhancements can include integrating additional sensors for water quality, expanding IoT connectivity options such as LoRaWAN for broader coverage, and incorporating predictive analytics to anticipate demand fluctuations. These upgrades would further optimize water management and reduce operational costs. The system can also be scaled for city-wide deployment, enabling integration with smart city initiatives. Advanced AI models and cloud-based analytics can facilitate centralized monitoring, predictive maintenance, and seamless coordination across multiple water distribution networks, paving the way for sustainable urban water management.
