This project designs a secure wireless intra-aircraft communication system using MATLAB and lightweight cryptography. It protects critical sensor data like altitude, temperature, and fuel level during transmission. The data is converted into a 64-bit block and encrypted using the PRESENT algorithm, suitable for low-resource environments. Lightweight cryptography ensures low power usage, minimal memory, and fast processing. The encrypted data is transmitted securely and decrypted at the receiver for accuracy. The system enhances data security and efficiency in avionics and embedded applications.
KEYWORDS
This project presents a secure and efficient approach for intra-avionic communication using lightweight cryptography, specifically the PRESENT algorithm. It ensures data confidentiality and integrity while operating with minimal computational and memory requirements, making it highly suitable for resource-constrained avionics systems. The use of wireless communication helps reduce system complexity, wiring, and overall aircraft weight, while encryption protects the data from unauthorised access and cyber threats during transmission. The MATLAB implementation successfully validates the encryption and decryption processes, demonstrating reliable performance. Overall, this work highlights the effectiveness of lightweight cryptographic techniques in enabling secure, low-power, and efficient communication in modern wireless avionics systems.
