In many remote and rural regions, access to immediate emergency assistance remains a major challenge due to the lack of reliable communication infrastructure and limited network connectivity. This project, titled “Long Range Emergency Support System for Remote Areas,” aims to design and develop a robust and efficient solution to address this critical issue. The system utilizes Lo-Ra (Long Range Communication) technology to enable long-distance data transmission without requiring continuous internet connectivity. It is integrated with an ESP32 microcontroller, GPS module for real-time location tracking, and emergency push buttons for user interaction. In emergency situations, the user can activate an alert that transmits location details and distress information to a central monitoring station or nearby receiver units. Additionally, the system supports dual communication methods using Wi-Fi or GSM, where available, to improve reliability and ensure successful message delivery. The received information can be displayed on a mobile application or web-based monitoring dashboard, enabling authorities, rescue teams, or family members to respond quickly and effectively.
KEYWORDS
The proposed IoT-based emergency support system provides an effective and reliable solution for communication in remote and hilly areas. By utilizing LoRa technology, the system enables long-range data transmission without relying on GSM or internet networks. It ensures real-time location tracking and instant emergency alerts, improving response time and safety. The system is cost-effective, energy-efficient, and suitable for applications such as trekking, disaster management, and rural safety. Future enhancements may include integration of health monitoring sensors, renewable energy sources, and advanced communication technologies to further improve system performance.
