ABSTRACT

Zinc Oxide (ZnO) nanostructures have drawn great attention towards the energy, environmental and biomedical applications as they are chemically stable, non-toxic, biocompatible and bio-safe material. The physiochemical properties of ZnO nanostructures could be tailored over wide range by the control of particle composition, particle size and morphology. In order to meet out various applications, the present work was focused to synthesis well-crystalline, flower-like ZnO nanostructures without using capping agent and surfactant by eco-friendly and cost-effective hydrothermal method. In the present work, the significant influence of the reaction time on the morphology of ZnO nanostructures were investigated. The purity of the sample and crystalline nature were examined by X-Ray Diffractometry (XRD) and Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) Spectroscopy. The optical property was analyzed by UV-Vis spectroscopy (UV-Vis) whereas the surface morphology was revealed by Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM). The morphological studies using FESEM depicted the variation in length of ZnO nanorods. Furthermore, the detailed growth mechanism was investigated.
