The rapid growth of international travel has increased the demand for secure and efficient passport verification systems. Traditional passport verification processes rely heavily on manual inspection, which can be time-consuming and prone to human error. To address these limitations, this paper proposes a next-generation smart governance platform based on an RFID-enabled IoT E-Passport system. The proposed system integrates Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology with Internet of Things (IoT) infrastructure to enable automated and secure identity verification. Each passport is embedded with an RFID tag that stores unique identification information such as personal details and biometric data. The RFID reader retrieves this data and communicates with a centralized database through IoT networks for real-time authentication and monitoring. This approach significantly reduces processing time at immigration checkpoints while enhancing security by preventing document forgery and unauthorized access. Furthermore, the system supports efficient data management, improved border control, and seamless traveler identification. The proposed smart governance framework demonstrates how advanced technologies can modernize passport verification systems and strengthen national security in a digital environment.
KEYWORDS
The proposed RFID-Based IoT E-Passport System provides an efficient and secure solution for modern passport verification processes. By integrating RFID technology with IoT communication and cloud databases, the system enables automatic identification and real-time verification of passport information. The system reduces manual verification, minimizes human errors, and improves the speed of the immigration process. It also enhances security by preventing unauthorized access and detecting fraudulent passports. The use of cloud-based data management allows authorities to monitor and manage passport records effectively. Overall, the proposed system improves the efficiency, accuracy, and security of border control operations and supports the development of smart governance systems.
