Football is one of the most popular sports in the world, so understanding the game and predicting the results attracts the attention of fans, coaches, the media, and gamblers. Predicting the outcome of a football match is a difficult task, but the football industry has grown over time. The unpredictability of football events and the evolution of the betting market suggest the development of predictive models to support punters. In this article, we develop a machine learning method that will use a set of statistics from previous matches and the characteristics of the players of both teams to predict the outcome of the match in football. Several hypotheses were tested, and experimental results were shown to support performance in the context of competitive football.
