Contour mapping is an essential part of surveying used to represent the elevation and shape of the earth’s surface. Contour lines connect points that have the same elevation and help engineers understand the slope and topography of land. These maps are widely used in civil engineering projects such as road construction, drainage planning, building layout, and irrigation systems. Traditionally, contour maps were prepared manually using field survey data and graphical interpolation methods. However, manual methods require more time and may introduce errors in contour representation. This study focuses on the preparation of contour maps using AutoCAD Civil 3D, a software widely used for civil engineering design and terrain modeling. Survey data collected from the field is imported into the software to create a digital terrain model. The software generates contour lines automatically using triangulated surface modeling techniques. The digital method improves accuracy, reduces time consumption, and provides better visualization of terrain features. The results show that contour mapping using AutoCAD Civil 3D is efficient and reliable for civil engineering applications.
