The growing trend of using online learning platforms has raised the issue of conducting safe and secure exams for students. Issues ranging from unauthorized access, cheating to lack of structured evaluation systems make online examination systems less effective than expected. ProctoAI is a project that aims at developing an AI-based online examination system that ensures structured examination process. This system uses role-based management, allowing professors to create and conduct examinations while allowing students to participate in the exams upon authentication. In addition, the system is built with integrity in mind by ensuring controlled access, timed tests and structured result generation. Activity monitoring techniques like monitoring of screen changes and monitoring log are incorporated in the system but on a preliminary basis. The system has undergone tests on the major features such as user authentication, creating examinations, exam participation and result generation and it proved to be superior compared to other online examination systems.
KEYWORDS
ProctoAI is a well-established tool that helps conduct online examinations within a structured environment. Given the increasing use of online examination in remote learning programs, there is a demand for reliable online examination tools that ensure security and efficiency. ProctoAI caters to this need by developing an examination portal where the communication between professors and students takes place via defined functions and roles. In its implementation, ProctoAI has managed to incorporate significant features such as authentication, role-based authorization, examination management, and automated result generation. This way, the professors are able to conveniently manage their examinations, and students gain access to examinations through the interface provided by the system. All processes starting from login, up to examination, and even to result announcement, follow a structured process. The database layer plays a critical role in ensuring the consistency of the process through secure storage of data including users' information, examination details, and results. In addition to the core examination functionalities, the system also includes basic activity tracking mechanisms such as tab-switch detection at a preliminary level. Although these monitoring features are not highly advanced, they provide a basic level of transparency and support controlled examination environments. The primary focus of the project remains on building a practical and reliable examination management system rather than depending entirely on automated monitoring techniques. The system has been tested for major functionalities including login validation, exam handling, result processing, and database operations, and it demonstrates stable and satisfactory performance in these areas. The modular architecture and clear separation of layers improve the maintainability, scalability, and overall understanding of the system. In conclusion, ProctoAI presents a practical solution to common challenges faced in online examinations. By combining secure access, role-based workflow, organized result management, and structured system design, the project provides a reliable and efficient platform suitable for academic and educational use.
