Project management plays an important role in the success of any project. Traditional methods of project scheduling involve manual computations that may be prone to dependency problems and make it hard to identify critical activities. In this study, a project management application that applies critical path method (CPM) and program evaluation and review technique (PERT) is proposed. This proposed approach aids in computing the duration of the project, identifying the critical path, computing the slack time, and generating program evaluation and review technique (PERT) provides probabilistic time estimation.
KEYWORDS
It has been concluded that CPM and PERT method is used to enhance the planning, scheduling and managing of projects properly [1],[10]. CPM method should be use for a project which has activities that take a specified time and well defined, whereas PERT method can be used if the completion time of activities are uncertain [7],[12]. The system developed will allow the calculation of critical paths, ES, EF, LS, LF, slack value and total time of the project accurately [9],[11]. Thus, the system reduces the manual work involved in calculating the value and it make easy for user to check the activities which critical in a network diagram [8]. Therefore, it is clear that the proposed Project Management System is an effective, simple and precise method to manage the project which will have effective impact on managing real-world projects [2],[5].
