The "RFID Smart Library Management System" is an IoT-based embedded system designed to automate book tracking, access control, and inventory management in a library environment. The system integrates RFID tags attached to books and library cards, an RFID reader for identification, an ESP32 microcontroller for processing, an LCD display with I2C connector for real-time status updates, and buzzers for alert notifications. A centralized database stores book records and borrowing history, while a web-based UI provides library staff and users with an intuitive interface for managing library operations. This system significantly reduces manual effort, prevents unauthorized book removal, and streamlines the borrowing and return process through automated identification and intelligent data management.
KEYWORDS
In summary, the RFID Smart Library Management System represents a significant advancement in automating and modernizing library operations. By combining RFID hardware, an ESP32 microcontroller, sensory feedback components, a database backend, and a web-based interface, the system delivers a comprehensive solution that addresses the core challenges of traditional library management. This integrated approach not only streamlines the borrowing and return process but also provides robust security against unauthorized book removal and maintains an accurate, real- time inventory. The use of IoT principles ensures that the system is scalable and remotely accessible, laying the groundwork for future enhancements. It is important to acknowledge that while this system greatly enhances operational efficiency, ongoing maintenance of hardware components, regular database backups, and staff training remain essential for long-term reliability. Continued development, expanded RFID coverage, and deeper software integration will further elevate this system into a fully intelligent library management platform suited for institutions of all sizes.
