Abstract

Natural lighting is an important part of interior design because it helps reduce the use of artificial lights during the daytime. Sunlight can make indoor spaces brighter, healthier, and more comfortable while also saving electricity. Today, buildings consume a large amount of energy for lighting, cooling, and other electrical systems. By using natural light properly, energy consumption in interior spaces can be reduced significantly. This research paper studies how natural lighting helps in saving energy in homes, offices, schools, and commercial buildings. It explains different methods used to bring more daylight into interiors, such as large windows, skylights, glass doors, proper building orientation, and open space planning. These design techniques help sunlight spread evenly inside rooms and reduce the need for electric lights during the day. The study also explains the benefits of natural lighting for people. Spaces with good daylight feel more comfortable and pleasant. Natural light can improve mood, increase productivity, reduce stress, and create a healthy indoor environment. In workplaces and schools, proper daylight can help people focus better and work more efficiently. In addition, the research highlights the environmental benefits of natural lighting. When less electricity is used for artificial lighting, energy costs become lower and carbon emissions are reduced. This supports sustainable and eco-friendly building design. The research concludes that natural lighting is an effective and simple way to reduce energy consumption in interior spaces. Proper use of daylight not only saves energy and money but also improves the quality of indoor environments. Therefore, architects and interior designers should focus on natural lighting while designing modern buildings.

Full Article/Conclusion

Natural lighting is an important part of interior design because it helps reduce energy consumption and improves indoor spaces. The study shows that proper use of sunlight can reduce the need for artificial lighting during daytime, which helps save electricity and lower energy costs. Buildings with large windows, skylights, glass openings, and proper planning receive more daylight and create brighter and more comfortable interiors. The research also found that natural lighting improves mood, comfort, health, and productivity. People feel more comfortable and relaxed in naturally lit spaces compared to spaces that depend only on artificial lighting. In offices and schools, daylight helps improve concentration and work performance. In homes, it creates a warm and pleasant atmosphere. The study also explains that natural lighting supports sustainable and eco-friendly design by reducing electricity use and environmental pollution. However, problems such as heat gain and glare can occur if sunlight is not properly controlled. These problems can be reduced by using curtains, blinds, and proper window design. Overall, the research concludes that natural lighting is a simple and effective way to save energy and improve the quality of interior spaces. Therefore, architects and interior designers should focus more on using natural lighting in modern buildings.
