The restaurant industry is rapidly adopting digital technologies to improve operational efficiency and customer experience. Traditional restaurant systems often involve manual ordering processes, paper menus, and communication delays between customers and staff. This paper presents “Scan & Dine,” a smart restaurant management and food ordering web application developed using MERN stack technologies. The proposed system allows customers to scan QR codes for accessing digital menus, booking tables, placing orders, and tracking order status in real time. The system also provides an admin dashboard for managing menu items, customer activities, and restaurant operations. Technologies such as React.js, Node.js, Express.js, and MongoDB are integrated to ensure scalability, security, and performance. The developed platform improves customer convenience, reduces manual workload, and modernizes restaurant management operations.
KEYWORDS
In conclusion, the proposed Scan & Dine system successfully demonstrates how modern web technologies can be utilized to improve restaurant management and enhance customer dining experiences through digital automation. The system integrates QR-code-based ordering, digital menu management, table reservation, real-time order tracking, and centralized administrative control within a single web-based platform developed using the MERN stack architecture. The implementation of the system effectively reduces manual workload, minimizes order processing delays, and improves communication between customers and restaurant staff. By replacing traditional paper-based and manually operated restaurant processes with an automated digital solution, the platform increases operational efficiency, improves service quality, and provides a more convenient and contactless dining experience for users. The use of technologies such as React.js, Node.js, Express.js, and Mongo DB ensures scalability, flexibility, and efficient data management within the application. Secure authentication mechanisms and modular system architecture further contribute to reliable system performance and easy future expansion. The testing and evaluation results indicate that the application performs efficiently under different operational scenarios and satisfies the primary objectives of the project.
