Skill Development and Capacity Building for Rural MSME Entrepreneurs in Telangana Rural Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a crucial role in promoting inclusive growth, employment generation, and entrepreneurship in Telangana. However, rural entrepreneurs often face challenges such as inadequate skills, limited access to technology, poor financial literacy, and weak market linkages. Skill development and capacity building are therefore essential to enhance the productivity, competitiveness, and sustainability of rural MSMEs. This paper examines the importance of skill development initiatives and capacity-building programs designed for rural MSME entrepreneurs in Telangana. It focuses on the role of government schemes, training institutions, and support agencies in strengthening entrepreneurial, technical, managerial, and digital competencies. Special attention is given to initiatives targeting women entrepreneurs, youth, and marginalized communities to promote inclusive rural development. The study also identifies key barriers in effective skill development, including lack of awareness, insufficient training infrastructure, and limited adoption of digital technologies. The paper suggests the need for integrated and demand-driven skill development frameworks, combining practical training, digital tools, mentoring, and market-oriented support. Strengthening capacity building through continuous learning and institutional collaboration can significantly enhance rural MSME growth. The study concludes that effective skill development is vital for empowering rural entrepreneurs and fostering sustainable economic development in Telangana.
KEYWORDS
Skill development and capacity building are vital for empowering rural MSME entrepreneurs and ensuring sustainable rural development. The study concludes that while existing initiatives positively impact enterprise performance, there is a need for more inclusive, need-based, and continuous training programs. Strengthening digital infrastructure, improving awareness, and providing post-training support can further enhance the effectiveness of these initiatives. A collaborative approach involving government, financial institutions, NGOs, and the private sector is essential for building a resilient rural MSME ecosystem.
