Abstract

Smart dairy farming integrates automation, sensing technologies, data-driven management, and renewable energy sources to improve the efficiency, productivity, sustainability, and reliability of dairy farm operations. The proposed system focuses on automating essential activities such as feeding, watering, cleaning, waste management, and livestock monitoring while reducing dependence on conventional grid electricity. Renewable energy sources such as solar and wind energy are considered to supply the electrical requirements of the system, with battery storage providing continuity during periods of insufficient renewable generation. Ultrasonic sensors are employed for monitoring feed and water levels, while conveyor-based feeding and automated cleaning mechanisms reduce manual intervention. The system also incorporates monitoring and data-analysis concepts for observing livestock health, resource consumption, and farm conditions. The integration of renewable energy with automated farm operations can reduce operational costs, improve resource utilization, enhance animal welfare, and reduce environmental impact. The proposed smart dairy farming approach therefore provides a sustainable framework for modernizing conventional dairy operations, particularly in areas where reliable grid power is limited.

Full Article/Conclusion

The proposed Smart Dairy Farming Driven by Renewable Energy Sources provides an effective approach for improving the efficiency, sustainability, and productivity of dairy-farm operations. The integration of solar and wind energy with battery storage provides a sustainable power supply for automated farm activities. Automated feeding, watering, and cleaning systems reduce manual labour, improve resource utilization, and help maintain better livestock conditions. Sensor-based monitoring, particularly through ultrasonic sensors, supports efficient management of feed and water availability. Overall, the proposed system reduces dependence on conventional energy sources, minimizes resource wastage, and supports environmentally sustainable dairy farming. The system can be further enhanced through IoT, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and remote monitoring technologies to achieve more intelligent and efficient farm management.
