The increasing demand for efficient healthcare services has created a need for intelligent appointment management systems that can handle large volumes of patients while maintaining service quality. Traditional appointment booking methods rely heavily on manual processes such as phone calls and physical visits, which often lead to long waiting times, scheduling conflicts, and inefficient utilization of hospital resources. These issues negatively impact both patient satisfaction and the productivity of healthcare providers. In this paper, a Doctor Smart Appointment System is proposed, which integrates a Smart Scheduling Algorithm with a Priority-Based Scheduling mechanism. The system dynamically allocates time slots based on doctor availability while ensuring that no overlapping appointments occur. Additionally, patients are categorized into priority levels such as high, medium, and low based on the severity of their medical condition. This ensures that emergency cases receive immediate attention without disrupting the overall schedule. The system also includes real-time updates, automated notifications, and secure digital record management. Experimental evaluation demonstrates that the proposed system significantly reduces waiting time, improves scheduling efficiency, and enhances overall hospital workflow. The system is scalable, user-friendly, and suitable for modern healthcare environments.
KEYWORDS
This research presented a comprehensive Doctor Appointment Booking System that addresses the challenges of healthcare appointment management through modern web technologies. The system provides patients with convenient online access to appointment booking services, enabling them to schedule healthcare consultations without the constraints of telephone-based scheduling systems. The slot-based scheduling algorithm ensures efficient appointment allocation while preventing scheduling conflicts that plague traditional manual approaches. The implementation successfully integrates essential features including patient registration and authentication, doctor profile management, appointment scheduling with real-time availability tracking, and automated notification services. The administrative dashboard provides healthcare facility managers with valuable insights into system utilization through comprehensive analytics and reporting capabilities. Performance evaluation demonstrates that the system achieves high reliability with response times suitable for practical healthcare deployment. The modular architecture enables future expansion and integration with additional healthcare services as organizational requirements evolve. The open-source implementation provides healthcare facilities with a cost-effective alternative to commercial solutions while maintaining functionality required for effective appointment management. The responsive design ensures accessibility across various devices, enabling patients to access booking services from desktop computers, tablets, or smartphones.
