This paper presents the design and implementation of an IoT-based Smart Home Security System. It includes system architecture, hardware components, and working methodology using sensors and a microcontroller. The paper also discusses real-time monitoring, intrusion detection, and remote access features, along with advantages, limitations, and future improvements of the proposed system
KEYWORDS
This work presents the development of a smart home security system that utilizes fingerprint-based authentication in combination with IoT-enabled embedded technology. The proposed approach provides an effective solution for access control by addressing the limitations associated with conventional methods such as physical keys, passwords, and manual supervision. The use of biometric identification ensures that access is restricted to authorized individuals, thereby enhancing overall security. The implementation based on the NodeMCU (ESP8266), along with supporting components including a servo motor, LCD module, buzzer, and LED indicators, demonstrates efficient interaction between hardware and software elements. The system is capable of delivering rapid response, precise authentication, and clear user notifications. Experimental evaluation confirms that the system performs reliably, with high accuracy and stable operation under different conditions. Furthermore, the design emphasizes affordability, ease of use, and straightforward deployment, making it suitable for residential as well as small-scale commercial applications. The inclusion of alert mechanisms improves responsiveness by providing immediate feedback during unauthorized access attempts. In summary, the proposed system represents a practical and scalable approach to modern security solutions. With the incorporation of future enhancements such as cloud connectivity, mobile-based control, and multi-factor authentication, the system can be further extended to meet advanced security requirements and adapt to evolving technological trends
