The global demand for refrigeration in areas like air-conditioning, food preservation, medical services, vaccine storages, and electronic components temperature control has increased dramatically and thus led to the generation of more electricity and consequently an increase in the CO2 concentration in the atmosphere, which in turn causes global warming and many climate changes. Thermoelectric refrigeration is a new alternative that has the potential to reduce the electricity needed for producing the cooling effect and to meet the energy challenges of today. Thus, it is urgently needed for developing countries where durability and minimum maintenance are requirements. The aim of the present research is to create a functional thermoelectric refrigerator that can cool a 5L cabin, using the Peltier effect to cool and keeping the temperature in the range of 5°C to 25°C. The cooling chamber design includes thermoelectric modules (TEMs) that work on the Peltier effect to bring the juicer temperature down to nearly 18°C. Solar panel has been added as an advantage to provide the energy. The design and construction of a solar powered thermoelectric refrigerator for the given applications are discussed.
