Student motivation and mental health are essential determinants of academic success and overall well-being in higher education. Structured academic systems, characterized by organized curricula, assessment methods, attendance requirements, and academic regulations, can significantly influence students' learning experiences and psychological health. This study aims to examine the impact of structured academic systems on student motivation and mental health among undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate students. A descriptive research design was adopted, and primary data were collected from 57 respondents using a structured questionnaire based on a five-point Likert scale. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, cross-tabulation, and the Chi-square test through SPSS. The findings indicate that the academic environment, faculty support, and institutional practices have a significant influence on students' motivation and mental well-being. The Chi-square analysis confirmed a statistically significant relationship between structured academic systems, student motivation, and mental health, leading to the rejection of the null hypothesis. The study concludes that educational institutions should adopt student-centered approaches and strengthen mental health support services to enhance both academic performance and psychological well-being.
KEYWORDS
The present study examined the impact of structured academic systems on student motivation and mental health among undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate students. The findings indicate that academic environment, faculty support, and institutional practices play an important role in influencing students' motivation and psychological well-being. Although structured academic systems promote discipline and academic achievement, excessive academic pressure and workload may negatively affect students' mental health and their ability to maintain a healthy academic–personal life balance. The statistical analysis confirmed a significant relationship between structured academic systems, student motivation, and mental health. Therefore, educational institutions should adopt student-centred approaches that promote both academic excellence and psychological well-being, thereby creating a healthier and more supportive learning environment.
