Abstract

Manufacturing industries depend on the effective utilization of machine tools, machining processes, inspection systems and maintenance practices to achieve productivity, dimensional accuracy and consistent product quality. This research paper presents an industrial case study of M/s Gunjal Industries, Ahilyanagar, focusing on industrial machinery, machining operations, component inspection and maintenance practices. The study examines the role of conventional and advanced machine tools used for manufacturing and machining components. Major machining operations considered in the study include turning, drilling, milling, grinding, boring and related finishing operations. The research also focuses on component inspection using measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges and other inspection equipment. Publicly available information identifies Gunjal Industries in the Ahmednagar MIDC area and lists services/products associated with industrial machinery, maintenance and repair, gear cutting and milling, grinding shafts and height gauges. Maintenance is an important factor in maintaining machine availability and reducing unexpected breakdowns. The paper discusses preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance approaches and proposes a systematic maintenance framework based on machine condition, operating hours, lubrication, inspection and breakdown history. The study concludes that integration of appropriate machining parameters, systematic component inspection and planned maintenance can improve productivity, reduce rejection and rework, increase machine availability and improve overall manufacturing performance.

Full Article/Conclusion

This research paper presents an integrated study of industrial machinery, machining operations, component inspection and maintenance practices with reference to M/s Gunjal Industries, Ahilyanagar. Machining operations such as turning, drilling, milling and grinding require proper machine condition, suitable cutting tools and controlled process parameters. Component inspection ensures that the manufactured products meet dimensional and quality requirements. Maintenance is equally important because machine condition directly affects productivity, dimensional accuracy and surface finish. Preventive and predictive maintenance can reduce unexpected breakdowns and improve machine availability. The proposed integration of machining-process control, component inspection, preventive maintenance, 5S, Poka-Yoke and continuous improvement can help improve manufacturing productivity and product quality. For a stronger original research paper, actual industrial data from M/s Gunjal Industries should be collected and analyzed for machine utilization, cycle time, rejection rate, inspection results, breakdown frequency, MTBF, MTTR and machine availability.
