Swarm robotics and multi-robot systems are emerging fields that focus on the coordination of multiple robots to perform complex tasks efficiently. Inspired by natural systems like ant colonies and bird flocks, swarm robotics emphasizes decentralized control and collective intelligence. Recent research integrates artificial intelligence, deep reinforcement learning, and distributed coordination to enhance system performance. This review analyzes recent advancements in swarm intelligence, task allocation strategies, and coordination mechanisms. It compares methodologies, identifies research gaps, and highlights future directions for scalable and efficient robotic systems.
